They were taken using a colorsplash Lomo camera (my favorite plastic toy), and with Revolog film; a film from Switzerland that I found at a photo museum in London. Each roll has a different strange effect. This one had “green and blue lines running through the pictures”. Random and spontaneous, just how I like my lomography to be.
If you think America gets a little crazy when it comes to the holiday time, you should see London. Lights line the streets, mulled cider and wine are advertised at every pub (sooo delicious), and crazy festivals like this are hosted in Hyde Park. Winter Wonderland, it was called. I decided to go the last day with a friend, but realized quickly how unappealing it was to me. Insane crowds of drunk parents and whining children. However, it certainly made a good photo-op. Lights and rides and food stands everywhere. If I had a foot perimeter of my own to move around in, I would have whipped out the digital for some photojournalism shots. But in the end, I think my beautiful colorsplash documented the event accurately. Though to an outsider it may have seemed gross and stuffy and loud, just by looking at a few faces you could tell that this was their tradition. Meeting up with friends and family to celebrate the warmth of the holidays in this cold and rainy city. Now how can I criticize that?
